Nissan is pushing for bigger sales numbers for their electric car, the Leaf, by introducing a few changes to the car itself and increased distribution.

Nissan says the 2013 Leaf will get substantial changes, like a better heater, a darker-colour interior and leather seats.

They also say buyers may not see much change on the fuel-economy rating, but in cold-weather conditions they may see upto 40 km improvement in range.

Nissan is set to develop a centre of excellence for electric vehicles in the North-East to link up with the company's Sunderland plant, where all-electric LEAF models will start to roll off the production line next year.

The Nissan Leaf’s sportier sibling called the “Infiniti Zero Emission Luxury Concept” is being teased by its maker to amp-up interest for its public revealing in a couple of weeks.

One year ago today, Nissan began deliveries of the 100% electric Nissan LEAF in the UK.

Back in late July, Carlos Ghosn, Nissan's chief executive officer, stated that "with more than 10,100 electric Nissan LEAF vehicles already sold worldwide" the Japanese automaker is "clearly the global leader in zero emission mobility."
